Living in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach, VA Community

Taking place over the course of Labor Day weekend, the Chartway Virginia Beach 10 Miler was organized to raise awareness and support those fighting pediatric cancer. In collaboration with the local Live the Life Concert Series presented by Beach Events, the race drew in a wide variety of runners for either the 5K or 10 mile race, or both, in the “Live the Life Challenge.” The Chartway Credit Union and Promise Foundation donated grants to provide life-changing and joyous experiences to four children currently dealing with cancer. On Saturday, Max, a four-year old facing Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, was granted an excursion for a daylong fishing trip on a chartered boat. The next day, 12-year old Kylie had her wish come true, courtesy of Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia – an all-expenses paid trip to Hawaii.
