Thanks to a grant from the Virginia Beach Library Foundation, locals and visitors alike can borrow or rent gear for outdoor fun, such as picnic baskets, yard games, kites, and surfboards. This is an amazing opportunity for Hampton Roads residents to make the most of their vacation destination.
Branch manager Ashley Barrineau proudly notes that this type of library program is the only one in the nation, with the closest similar program being in Australia. Library card holders are invited to check out the gear for up to three weeks at a time, free of charge.

She explains that customers can also drive the golf cart on any roads that are 35 and under, which covers the entire Oceanfront area. For military members, they should check with the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation office at their nearest base for outdoor equipment rentals.
